STAKES, WOOD
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this
commercial item description by all federal agencies.
1. SCOPE AND CLASSIFICATION
1.1 Scope. This commercial item description (CID) covers location and hub stakes. Location stakes are intended for use in laying out foundations for buildings and other structures, and for trail marking. Hub stakes are intended for use in surveying applications such as land and building foundations.
1.2 Classification. The wood stakes shall be of the following type and length, as specified (see 6.2).

2. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS
2.1 Material. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the wood species shall be at the option of the manufacturer and of the type accepted within industry for the manufacture of this products.
2.2 Dressed dimensions. The stakes shall be furnished in the following dressed dimensions.
Type I – Location stakes shall be 3/4 inch (19.0 mm) thick + 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) and 1 – 1/2 inches (50.8 mm) + 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) wide.
Type II – Hub stakes shall be 1 – 1/2 inches (38.1 mm) thick and 1 – 1/2 inches (38.1 mm) wide + 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) in each dimension.
